今週はマスターズ2015ですね。マスターズに関わるゴルフの英会話を紹介します。

今日から第79回マスターズが始まります。ゴルフファンの私としてはとっても楽しみな週です。メジャーの中でマスターズだけいつも同じゴルフコース「オーガスタ・ナショナル・ゴルフクラブ」で開催されます。とても歴史のあるゴルフ大会です。
今回は、マスターズを話題にした英会話でいろんなフレーズを紹介します。

[S] I can’t believe it’s Masters week again Lee,are you excited?
信じられないよ、もうまたマスターズの週だね、リーは楽しみ？
[L] I’m very excited Steve and the course looks in fantastic nick this year!
めっちゃ楽しみだよスティーブ、今年はコースが良さそうだしね！
nick：スラングで「調子、コンディション」という意味で使われます。
例文：I’m in good nick.
（健康状態、体）調子はいいよ。
[S] Yes it does and the greens look super fast too,the players are going to have to putt very well to have a chance of winning.
うんそうだね、グリーンもめっちゃ早そうだよ、選手たちは勝つためにはパットを上手く決めないとね。
[L] So Steve,who do you think is going to be in contention on the back nine on Sunday?
ねえスティーブ、日曜のバックナインは誰の闘いになると思う？

[S] To be honest Lee,there are lots of guys who could win this year but I hope Rory Mcilroy and Tiger woods are in the mix coming down the stretch on Sunday.
そうだねリー、今年たくさんの選手に勝てる可能性はあるけど、ローリーマキロイとタイガーウッズも勝つ可能性があって、日曜の終盤の優勝争いに加わってほしいな。
in the mix：「含まれる」という意味です。
スポーツなどで使われる場合は、「（良い位置にいて）優勝争いに入る」
例文：I hope to be in the mix on Sunday.
日曜日に、優勝争いに絡んでいたいよ。
down the stretch：終盤に
例文：I thought the team defended well coming down the stretch.
あのチームは終盤よく守ったと思うよ。
[L] Wow that would be an amazing situation to watch if Rory and Tiger were neck and neck coming down the 18th,battling it out for the championship!
それはとってもすごいシチュエーションだね、もしローリーとタイガーが互角で18ホールに来てメジャーを戦うなんて！
neck and neck：互角で、負けず劣らず
例文：The race was neck and neck.
あのレースは負けず劣らずだったね。
[S] I’m not sure if it will happen because Rory is still very young and Tiger has not been playing very well lately.
そんなことが起こるかはわからないけどね、ローリーはまだ若いし、タイガーは最近調子よくないからね。
[L] You right,Tiger has been struggling with his game recently but do you remember that amazing chip he holed on the 16th green in 2005 on his way to victory that year.
そうだね、タイガーは最近の試合では苦しんでいるからね、でも2005年のマスターズでの16ホールあの年の優勝へのすごいチップインは覚えている？
[S] Of course I remember,it was one of the greatest Masters moments ever!
もちろん覚えているよ、今までマスターズでの、すごい歴史のひとつだったよ。

ゴルフを見ながら、なにか食べて、ビールでも開けよう！
nosh：主にイギリスで使われるスラングで「食べ物」
例文：Do you want to go and get some nosh somewhere?
どこか出かけて食べ物を手に入れない？
crack open：「開ける」という意味です。
例文：Would you like to crack open a bottle of wine?
ワインの栓を開けたいですか？
